for everyone

As usual, we (Justin, Aaron, Limin & me) were late once again. We were suppose to meet up at the café located at MacRitchie at 0830hr. But we arrived at about ½ an hr later The two Yen(Yan) (Shu Yen and Liyan)  had arrived way before we do.

We found a locker to keep all our belongings before we set off for a warm up. We stared our run at the foot of Mr. Lim’s tomb. It has been ages since I’ve resumed running again. The last time if I remember correctly was 2-3 weeks before the haze attacked. Now that the Standard Charted Marathon will be held next month, I’d better train hard for it this month, before I regret.

The weather is sunny with PSI registered at 41. The running route includes the natural terrain and also the boardwalk. It has been a long time since I’ve ran this stretch of the trail. The last time was during my X-country in secondary school days dated back in say 1996 or 1997. I didn’t run the full length that time, after I came out from the trail to civilization; I started to walk most of the distant back to the finishing line.

Running from the MacRitchie Park into the nature trail brings me right back to the place that I missed most. The smell of the rotting leaves to the decomposed logs. It all smell so familiar. It reminds me of the kampong that once stood at Kranji, the place that I’ve spent 13 years of my life in.

As usual, Justin, Shu Yen and Aaron were at the front of the pack. I just ran at my time and my own pace, enjoying the nature trail.

We gather at the fitness station and then we headed back to the starting point at the MacRitchie Park via the boardwalk. We ended the run at the fitness station located about 110m away from the tomb of Mr. Lim and did a set of static exercises, which was killing me (and maybe a few others too). Really got to thank the girls from Anderson Junior College for giving me the motivation much needed to keep me enduring. Heehee

After which we headed back to the café and then we took a group photo before going for lunch at the famous “Teo Chew Mui” located near Thomson road.

Now my body are all aching from the run and static liao
